Whether it’s your first time using an event app or you’re a seasoned professional, developing a strategy to create and deliver content to your attendees is key to creating an amazing event experience.

The program feature of the app serves as the agenda and, as an event professional, it’s important to first understand the type of agenda you are using for your event. An agenda can be linear (everyone attends the same sessions at the same time), track or breakout based (attendees are broken out into groups or can choose their own sessions), or a hybrid of the two. Through the program, event attendees can identify what sessions are happening, when they are happening, and where.

1 – Establish general program items

When creating your program, start with your general program items, such as “Breakfast,” “Registration,” and “Welcome”—these are common items that most attendees will take part in. 2 – Organize program tracks/breakouts

Once you’ve completed your general session items, identify and create your breakout categories (program tracks). Breakouts can be grouped by time, discipline, location, or category (i.e. “Afternoon Breakout” or “Group A”). Once you’ve created your tracks, create the program items you want in each track and assign them to the right track. Read more about managing tracks in our Help Center.

3 – Leverage program tags for extensive agendas

If an event has an extensive agenda, attendees would appreciate the ability to filter down the sessions within the app so they can make the most of their experience by attending sessions that are the most intriguing to them. Program tags function as filters within the app and organizes sessions into relevant categories; clear, well-structured tags can help attendees optimally filter down your program to focus on what’s most important to them. 4 – Write and apply evaluations

Evaluations for individual sessions allow attendees to give feedback on their session experience, which can be helpful to administrators when planning for future events. In order to get the best result, you should craft questions that apply to all sessions and allow the attendee to both rate the session and submit free text feedback; evaluations should address the content of the session, the speaker, and general feedback. 5 – Engage your participants with polls and questions to the stage

To make it easy and fun for your attendees to actively participate and engage with the speaker during a session, you can add polls and questions to each program item. This makes it easy for the speaker to take part of the questions, as well as poll the audience and show the result in real time on the big screen. 6 – Use icons to drive structure and awareness in your agenda

When building the event program, eye-catching icons are available to help direct users’ attention. Upload images or build your own icon using symbols and colors in the admin tool. Leverage color-coding of program icons to visually organize session items while keeping form in mind to ensure that the program is logically organized.
